Nothing can surpass the customer service of the historic, independently owned office supply shop, Hinkson's. I needed a number of a specific file box. The big chains did not carry it. One call to Hinkson's with the particulars and I received a call back within an hour. John located it, could order it (to arrive tomorrow!) and gave me a very good price as well. He called as soon as they arrived and even offered to deliver them to me! Why would I ever return to those other stores?

This place has grown more frustrating over the past two years. Today I had a bad experience where I asked for a pen refill, they didn't have the correct tip size, but opened the package to show me. When I asked for the price, it was certainly inflated relative to staples/amazon costs. This isn't so much a big deal for me because I like to support local business, but I didn't like being "pressured" to purchase it since it was an opened package. I'll probably start shifting my business to the franchise-type stores for this industry.
